United We Stood

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more." ”

Adams' prediction was off by two days. From the outset, Americans celebrated independence on July 4, the date shown on the much-publicized Declaration of Independence, rather than on July 2, the date the resolution of independence was approved in a closed session of Congress

In Honor of Independence Day, I decided to do what burned in my heart rather than what's "Hot" today. We observe the Fourth of July as the day we separated ourselves from the tyranny of a government that did not represent us, but rather exploited our resources and hard work.

This people took a stand and said no more! They refuse to be forced into allegiance to a country that offered them no legitimate form of participation in the governing of their lives.

Some of us (not me) are related to those people. Most of us who think of ourselves as Americans value what they did, and still believe in these fundamental truths. I wonder if we'll have to the opportunity to continue saying that out loud?

Value your rights; they may be God-given, but many would like to take them from you. Many live in this world without them.

First we ignore history, and then we are fated to repeat it. IF it's not too late, let's exercise our ounce of prevention today, by getting involved in the political process, before a pound of revolution is the only alternate to the coming socialist regime.
